The quick summary

AI for your salon, in one page.

The biggest leak

No-shows are the single biggest money drain, costing roughly $110 to $265 each. A couple a week quietly adds up to thousands a year. Almost all of it is preventable, and the fixes below run off your booking tool.

Your foundation

Every fix bolts onto your booking system, so get that right first. In Australia: Fresha (commission-free core), Timely (strong for hair and beauty), Square Appointments (great for barbers), with Kitomba and Shortcuts for larger operations.

Cut no-shows
  1. Reminders: automatic SMS the day before, with one-tap confirm or reschedule. Estimated to cut no-shows ~29 to 70%.
  2. Deposits: on long services, new clients and peak times. Explain it plainly, pair it with a fair cancellation window.
  3. Waitlist: auto-offers a freed slot to clients waiting, so a cancellation fills itself.
  4. Loyal regulars can stay deposit-free. You're protecting the time that pays the bills, not punishing good clients.
Catch after-hours demand
  • By industry estimates, around 46 to 50% of bookings happen when you're shut or busy.
  • Turn on online booking first; put the link in your Instagram bio, Google profile and website.
  • Add an after-hours AI receptionist for callers, with a person on anything tricky.
Keep clients coming back
  • Rebooking nudges when a client is due. The cheapest client is one you already have.
  • Gentle reactivation of lapsed clients (own records, easy opt-out).
  • Automatic Google review requests while the visit is fresh. Lifts you up local search.

The rule that runs through it

Automate the reminders, the after-hours calls and the admin. Keep the welcome at the chair and a human eye on every post and reply firmly yours.
